Rocky is a great little Rat Terrier. He's a typical RT, a lot of "big dog" in a compact package! He's got boundless energy, is ready & willing for any family activity, yet loves to cuddle and sleep with you all night(under the covers, of course). Rocky earned his Canine Good Citizen at 9 months. He wants to be an agility Rat next! No one has told him he's only 10 lbs., so he kind of rules the roost around here. The following photos are with best bud, Nikolas v Segensreich-Wendemir. (Nik is 4 mo. old in the pictures.)
RT's are great dogs, not quite as dog aggressive as most Terrier breeds, not quite as stubborn. They are extraordinarily intelligent, and along with that intelligence comes a sensitivity to harsh corrections. The RT needs NO other correction except verbal, and then even that not overdone. RT's absolutely need a LOT of human interaction & mental/physical activity. They do not do well as Kennel dogs (what dog does?) They are possessive of their family. They learn well when there is a trusted bond between trainer and dog. They would give their little lives to defend the ones they love.
